The new trends for outdoor kitchens: from polished steel to matt finishes

Trade fairs and industry exhibitions serve to introduce brands and dealers, but they are also very useful to take the pulse of the situation with regard to new trends in design, material used by companies, public preferences, and so on. Already from our presence at the Salone del Mobile during last spring, we had noticed rising tendencies with which OF outdoorkitchens is fully in line. The confirmation came in the past few days, from 29th of October to Sunday 6th of November, the period in which Moacasa, an exhibition event for design and outdoor in which our brand participated thanks to the presence of the dealer Garden Living, was held. Let’s see what came out.

Two OF outdoor kitchens on display at Moacasa, in full 2023 trends

The two outdoor kitchens by OF outdoorkitchens that Garden Living decided to exhibit at Moacasa in Rome follow the trends we will see in outdoor kitchens in 2023. One of the two has a natural stainless steel structure, in a grey that is absolutely adaptable to any environment, while the worktop in Dekton Edora and the doors in embossed matt lacquered finish, RAL 7016, reflect the decor and design preferences already seen at the Salone del Mobile. Here in fact it was already clear that the furniture, for next year (but starting as early as this winter), will be in polished metal for the living room, but will have matt finishes for the kitchen. After all, in our best-selling models, matt and delabré are the masters. This is also demonstrated by one of our most popular kitchens, Via Nolfi 530, in delabré stainless steel, complete with triple crown gas hob with steel lid, Dolcevita barbecue, sink and square tap.

Inevitable attention to the environment and up cycling

If, therefore, living room furniture is polished, so much so that many manufacturers and designers have started producing coffee tables, shelves and chairs in brushed aluminium, the matt finish next to the steel is perfect for outdoor spaces. And speaking of outdoor spaces, brushed aluminium seatings can be combined in both indoor and outdoor kitchens. The inspiration is that of Portuguese seaside taverns, and gives a truly novel look to the environments. Having said that, one cannot forget the other trend that is coming out in this last period, and that is the so-called up-cycling, i.e. the use of recycled materials. This is due to the attention to the environment, so much so that one also sees mixes between metal and recycled wood in the general scene. The novelty lies in the fact that objects of a higher quality are created through re-use; after all, sustainability is now a topic that cannot be ignored, and we in the company know it well. And we always try to apply this concept in the right way, i.e. by making our kitchens beautiful and usable, as well as environmentally friendly.

Colours? Green and grey, or the always classic metal grey and black

As far as colours are concerned, instead, green is an imposing presence, especially in its softer shades tending to sage. It is a shade that in the kitchen goes very well with the smoke grey, both of the hobs and of the barbecue. And how not to think about the green of the Green Egg, a high-impact barbecue in outdoor kitchens? Combining these two colours will be perfect especially in country houses. The alternative is the classic and refined contrast between the glossy grey of steel and black, always of strong impact and refinement.
